Kalaari at 20: What Comes Next
Twenty years ago, Kalaari began with a mission to support the entrepreneurial spirit of India. The country was at an inflection point, and we knew it was a moment worth building for.
Our role since then has been to support and believe with patience and conviction to walk alongside founders driving change with purpose. We’ve watched India’s startup ecosystem evolve in ways few could have imagined, as entrepreneurs built companies that reshaped how India lives, works, consumes, and transacts.
Today, we find ourselves at yet another inflection point as India moves towards becoming a true product nation. The ambition is deeper, the problems are harder, and the opportunity for India to shape global markets has never been stronger.
This milestone is meaningful for us as a firm and as a team. But more than that, it is a testament to our conviction in India and in the founders building for the long haul.
We are excited for how the years ahead will shape India, and proud to be part of this transformative journey.
We’ve captured a few reflections from this journey here.
Portfolio Spotlight
Articulus Surgical, a MedTech company building a modular robotic surgery platform designed for India’s operating rooms, has raised its seed round. With a first-principles approach to portability, training, and cost structure, the team is working to make robotic-assisted surgery accessible beyond a handful of tertiary hospitals. We’re proud to partner with Articulus as they build surgical infrastructure designed for India’s realities and potentially for global markets facing similar constraints.
HireBound, an AI-native recruitment platform building an autonomous hiring execution layer, has raised $2 million in seed funding. By combining agentic AI with workflow automation, the team is turning recruiting into a system of action by reducing drop-offs and speeding up hiring. We’re excited to partner with HireBound as they scale modern hiring infrastructure across the US–India corridor and beyond.
Kalaari Kapsule | AI x Cybersecurity
AI is outpacing the security systems built to manage it. In our latest Kalaari Kapsule report, CISOs shared where the pressure is real: AI systems introduce risks traditional tools cannot see, identities are multiplying beyond control, and copilots cannot be trusted without guardrails.
From AI red teaming and model supply chain security to shadow identity governance and reliable SOC automation, these are the fault lines shaping the next wave of cybersecurity infrastructure.
The Hindsight
A a podcast about the unseen journeys behind enduring companies and the early signals that only make sense in retrospect.
In our first episode, Vani sat down with Ayush Agarwal, founder of Snabbit— the fintech platform that made gold investing accessible to millions and built one of the most recognizable brands in the category.

CXXO | The ₹4 Problem
In our latest CXXO report, we examine a persistent funding gap in India’s startup ecosystem: for every ₹100 raised by founders from the country’s most influential startup networks, only ₹4 goes to women founders. The data shows this is not a pipeline issue. Women are entering STEM and entrepreneurship in record numbers, but access to capital and networks remains uneven. Through CXXO, we focus on supporting and investing in women founders building enduring companies that the market continues to overlook.
India AI Impact Summit 2026
The India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi reinforced a clear shift in India’s AI journey from early experimentation to real, production-grade deployment. Conversations across the summit highlighted growing momentum around sovereign models, applied AI embedded in real workflows, and the infrastructure required to support large-scale innovation. The Kalaari team was actively engaged throughout the summit, participating in ecosystem discussions and supporting several of our portfolio companies showcasing their work, including Hyperbots, Pascal AI Labs, Resilience360, Superbryn, MeshDefend, and HerKey. For us, the signal is clear: India is moving beyond being an AI consumer and is steadily positioning itself as a builder of AI systems for the world.
Venture Forward is Kalaari’s quarterly newsletter that shares our portfolio wins, updates, our latest reports and what’s new in the past 3 months.
